Why do your prices vary so much? The simple answer is that miniatures range in their details – the more details, the longer it tends to take to paint a model. Prices are also heavily dependent on what you may want as a customer. I am generally very flexible and will work with you, to your budget, as best as possible, so that you get what you want and I don't earn less than I legally should.
What's the minimum service you offer – i.e. the cheapest? The minimum I will agree to do is to simply base coat your models. Nice, clean, smooth, often laborious, if not glorious, base coats!
Are you full-time or part time? I am now working to paint miniatures full-time – either on commissions or on items for my eBay store.
How long will my order take? Obviously this depends on the quantity, painting level and details of the miniatures involved, whether they are assembled or require assembly etc. In general I will spend a full 3-8 hours on a character model painted to a Good-High Gaming Standard. A basic infantry model done to a basic standard may take between thirty minutes to an hour or more. Upon submitting your query/quote I will let you know of any commissions I am working on, how long you could expect to wait (as I work on a first come, first serve basis) and how long your order may take and if I may need to order in any new supplies in order to fulfil your order (all of which add to the time it may take).
Is there anything you can't/won't do on a technical level? I consider myself to be a good painter but far from the absolute best. NMM (non-metallic-metal) I have yet to learn at a sufficient enough level where I'd feel comfortable enough to offer it (it's not the technique but how metal behaves/its reflections that always stump me), so as of now I do not offer it.
What paints/equipment do you use? I am always looking to buy and work with new paints. In general I use a mix of Citadel (Games Workshop), Vallejo, Scale 75, Army Painter, Warcolours, Andrea Color and Dark Star Molten Metals. I also have an airbrush which I use to undercoat and paint prominent areas.
Can I ask you for any painting advice? If you ever become a customer then I will gladly offer any painting advice I can give without charge. As part of my service I will offer my thoughts for your potential commission if I feel it necessary or if you ask – for example I'll let you know if what you're asking at the price you'd like is possible and if not I will take you through the process I would do. I will also offer my thoughts on colour choice only if I feel they'd clash too much. Ultimately you are the boss and they are your minis, so I will always do as you ask.
What about P&P and Damages to Product? I will always insist on being sent minis via recorded/signed for delivery. This is for your peace of mind, as well as mine. I will always return any commission via recorded delivery - usually 1st Class or Next Day (UK) or Tracked and Signed Airmail (Worldwide). I always use plenty of bubble wrap and void fill in my packaging but I can never guarantee your commission will arrive to you damage free (especially a fragile mini over long distances) and I will not be held liable to any damages incurred in transit to you.
